One of the most respected used car authorities on YouTube has advised drivers to avoid a number of popular used pickup trucks, stating that there are much better alternatives offered for similar prices.
Matt Goodwin runs the YouTube channel High Peak Autos, and has gained nearly 400,000 subscribers due to his videos in which he shares advice to help drivers get behind the wheel of dependable used cars.
In a recent video, Matt discusses the best and worst used pickup trucks to buy, warning drivers against purchasing the Chinese-built Great Wall Steed.
He advised: "I can't believe there are only three of these [up for sale]. I did a review, many years ago, of the Great Wall Steed because I couldn't believe how good value they were. Obviously they've all been scrapped, which doesn't really say a lot about the Great Wall Steed, does it?
"In the video, I clearly remember saying that if you buy a pickup truck for a member of staff, they'll abuse it anyway so you may as well buy a cheap one. That said, if you're buying it for yourself, you don't one."

Sold in the UK between 2012 to 2017, the Great Wall Steed was one of the first Chinese passenger vehicles to go on sale in the UK, initially being praised for having an affordable price and lengthy six-year warranty.
However, many buyers found that the Steed's build quality was not up to scratch compared to other pickups made by Japanese brands, plus the ride quality was considered poor.
Whilst pickup truck drivers can buy a low-mileage Great Wall Steed for about £5,000, Matt recommended spending the same figure on a slightly older Mitsubishi or Toyota.

Another used pickup truck that Matt suggested that drivers should avoid is the Isuzu D-Max, primarily due to having a bad ride quality and weak engine.
He added: "Now, Isuzu do the D-Max, and to be honest I'm not a huge fan of it. Most of them are a 1.9-litre turbo diesel, which is underpowered for a heavy pickup truck. I know it'll tow three tonnes but you just have to work it so hard.
"And, on top of that, the ride is appalling, and I mean atrocious. The most common model of the D-Max is the Rodeo, and it rides like you're on a rodeo bull, they're just terrible."

Drivers were also advised against buying a grey import pickup truck from America (Image: Getty)
Finally, Matt highlighted that drivers looking for a pickup truck that is cheap to run and easy to repair should generally avoid models that were imported from America, including the Dodge RAM and Ford F-Series.
He explained: "I would avoid, straight away, the imports, because if you were to buy something like a Dodge RAM, for £15,000 you're going to get an older one and then you're going to have difficulty finding parts and somebody to work on it.
"You'll see there, there's the [Ford] F100, F150 and F350. They're all US imports so you'll want to avoid those, I think, for the exact same reason as I said for the Dodge RAM."
